Methods & Techniques
In our laboratories, three fully equipped recording systems are in operation, which are suitable to the examination of surviving brain preparations. Using different recording methods, the activity of a single cell, a group of cells or of the whole brain slice may be analyzed.
Acquirable methods applied regularly in our laboratory:
- extracellular microelectrophysiological investigations on surviving brain preparations (of rat, mouse or fish), recording of evoked potentials or spontaneous activity
- imaging techniques (recording of intrinsic optical signals)
- intracellular recording techniques
- immunohistochemical, electronmicroscopic and behavioural tests (in cooperation)
